Vermi composting

worms

Earthworms are a farmer’s friend. They are unique annelids. They ingest materials like cow dung, agriwaste and decaying organic from the soil and excrete vermicasts. This excreted material is very useful for the growth of plants. It is a good replacement for chemical fertilizers. It is rich in nutrients for plants, it maintains the pH of the soil at favorable level and it has a good water holding capacity.

Selected species of earthworms multiply fast and eat voraciously. Under favorable circumstances, they can produce large quantities of organic fertilizer. The earthworms burrow in the soil and make it porous. Thus increasing its water holding capacity.
